daniel k's Vermillion references the figures in the paintings of British artist, Francis Bacon to help reshape the performative body. Pole dancing is used as a departure point for the creation of solo contemporary dance sequences. Four soloists will each enact an act of dissolution or disappearance by expending libidinal energies. The result is four intense, erotic journeys. Vermillion moves beyond the conventional definition of pole dancing as a sensual dance form and aligns the role of a go-go dancer with that of a contemporary dancer on stage by proposing a political relationship between the performer and the audience.
