Volunteers

The M1 Singapore Fringe Festival is a volunteer-driven festival, and we depend on people like you to assist with our marketing department, help set up the venues and manage the front-of-house. We also require volunteers as liaison officers to be attached with international artists and arts companies during the Fringe.

Volunteering with the Fringe is a fabulous way to see free performances, meet new people and get involved with one of the best events in town!

No prior experience in arts is required for some responsibilities and timings can be flexible. We are however looking for people with a keen interest in the arts and in meeting people from all around the world.

We require volunteers for the following positions:

Venue Coordinators
Venue Coordinators are required to liaise closely with artists and venue personnel. They will work with the Production Coordinator in the setting up and striking of exhibitions and performances. Volunteers should have a pleasant disposition, a responsible working attitude, and experience in production stage management.

Front-of-House Managers and Crew
Front-of-House managers will be responsible for setting up and striking of front-of-house tables, and are also in charge of managing front-of-house crew for our events. Front-of-house crew will be tasked with receiving guests, answering audience queries about the show and the festival, giving out flyers and mailing list forms before the show, as well as giving out feedback forms after the show. Front-of-house personnel should be friendly, approachable and helpful.

Production and Technical Crew
Production and technical crew will assist the production and/or stage managers in production/backstage duties. Crew should most preferably have some experience in crewing for productions.

Artist Liaison Officers
Liaison officers should be able to commit to the artist(s) they are attached to throughout the duration of the artist’s stay and provide hospitality services which will enhance their experience here. Duties include:

- Receiving artists at Changi International Airport;

- Bringing artists/guests to the hotel and providing them the welcome kit;

- Providing information on Singapore tourist attractions when necessary;

- Facilitating transport arrangements and accompanying the artist(s) from their hotel to their performance venues on rehearsal and performance dates;

- Assist with any production help if needed.

Liaison officers should be knowledgeable about Singapore and the Festival. They should also be articulate and pleasant, have a flexible working schedule, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of a foreign language is a bonus.
